Before shipping live animals, it will be necessary to prepare documents in accordance with the national requirements of the airline in Latvia and the recipient country. For the animal to feel comfortable and safe during transportation, it is necessary to choose a container according to the rules of the LAR. ACE specialists will advise what should be the container specifically for your animal.
An order for shipping live animal must be confirmed in a writing by e-mail at least 7 days, but not earlier than 21 days before the flight with the following information:
- preferred departure date;
- destination airport;
- sender’s name, surname (or company name), address, telephone;
- name, surname (or company name), address, telephone of the recipient;
- cage dimensions;
- weight of the animal together with the cage;
- age on flight day, species.
For the transportation of the animal, a flight with the shortest transit time, the least number of transfer airports and with the highest priority will be selected.
Handing over the animal to the airport should be carried out 2 – 4 hours before the flight, depending on the airline. Before handing over the animal to the airport, it is necessary to arrive at our office. Our agent will verify the compliance of the container, draw up flight documents and provide instructions and answers to questions.
Animals showing signs of illness or drowsiness may be refused flight, the use of sleeping pills is prohibited. Shipping live animals by air is forbidden for animals during their pregnancy period, as well as animals that have given birth less than 48 hours previously.
Animals must be healthy during the trip, so in case of doubt it is better to make a visit to the vet to make sure of the well-being of the animal. For both the animal and the owner, transportation can be stressful, so calm should be maintained as much as possible!
